Seminars for Lifters, Coaches & Health Professionals

Optimising the ribcage and pelvis is a dive deep into the positions weightlifting & strength athletes need to execute to be successful in their lifts. We cover how strength training can cause limitations & compensations throughout the body and how to use breathing & other positional work to correct this before we get pain. In this seminar we also zoom out and look at the organisation of the body as a whole and where we “exist” in space.  A central tenant of osteopathy is the body being one unit, that exists and reciprocates and I am excited to bring these concepts into the weightlifting & strength sport realm.

Competition Recap

March was a huge month for competitions with lifters competing in both the Controlled Chaos Classic and The Junior & Under 23 Australian Championships.

First up, was the Controlled Chaos Classic which had an electric atmosphere & was a fantastic day out. It was also super exciting to see so many mobility & rehabilitation patients from other clubs making huge progress in their lifts and technique.

Tammy Hicks killed her first comp back in over 12 months with a 64kg snatch paired with a 77kg clean and jerk.

Tammy nailed a gusty 80kg clean on her third attempt after having gastro earlier that week. Epic mental strength & great patience shown by Tammy. She is ready to rock for Victorian State Champs and World Masters.

Sarah Florence had a great day out hitting 5/6 lifts and enjoyed every minute of it. She finished with 3/3 in the clean and jerk which had been a long standing goal for her. It was great to warm her up on behalf of coach Emily Muskett.

Shout out to Lynda Hodgetts who finished on 73/88 and overall claimed third place. It was Lynda’s first day back to the platform in over 12 months and she bossed up and opened her C&J on her heaviest ever opener. Congratulations Lynda and coach Emily on your bronze medal.

Australian under 23 National Championships

This was run in a hub-style format meaning our Victorian lifters we the first to lift of all the states. Knowing this we put out best foot forward and attempted to chase the biggest today we could get.

Teagan Newman had a fierce fight on her hands for the u23 Australian National Titles. Teagan finished with a silver medal after hitting an awesome 82kg snatch at 71kg body weight.

She gave us all a heart attack but manage to hold on and secure 3 white lifts with the below lift.
